Are these a bunch of jokers?

Last week I rented Chameli and 15-Park Avenue from Netflix. Having a kid that loves Hindi movies and songs (loves the songs and colourfullness though the dialogues are not understood), I had to show her one of these and I decided on Chameli. I had it going and my wife opposed it and to boot it had an A-rating. Then I thought I would switch to 15-Park Avenue. The initial screen had a collage of various shots and seeing that we decided it was worse. So we ended up with nothing. Later when my kid was not around we decided to play 15-Park Avenue. To my surprise it has a U-Rating!!

A movie that deals with the intricacies of a schizophrenic mind being given a U-rating! To boot a rape scene too. Well not a raw one, but still any young mind can easily make it out that something bad is going on, something that they cannot imagine in their secure shell!

Arent we responsible for creating the society that we see today. Can’t we try to give them a better future by shaping the next generation. I ain’t talking about mind control, but atleast keep them away from the violence that the world is used to. Yep, we can’t keep them away from reality though.

The Kingdom September 30, 2007

Second day into its release in the US. Man, you dont wanna miss it. As they said in the previews, the final minutes will have you on the edge of your seats. Worth a watch in the theatres. I aint writing up much about the movie as you might get a load of it through google!

Another first for me, is that this is the first movie I have watched in a theatre or screening hall in the US. I was happy with my NetFlix and CoX Digital, but this movie was something that I had to watch.

Perhaps maybe the fact that I was in Saudi Arabia for 3 months in Riyadh and Dammam on a business visit in 2001. A lil bit of nostalgia too as I could see the Kingdom Towers in one of the shots. When I was there, they were just constructing it and it is touted that a 747 can fly through the U-shape at the top of the building.

And yes, I did live the horror of 9/11 too there. We were in a car returning from a business call when the news were pouring in and the reports on the FM brought me to the verge of tears with all their interviewing with the near and dear of those who perished. I just literally froze, as the boundaries of security just became blurred and anything could happen anywhere.

My wife wanted to watch it too but we have a kid. So I hopped with a friend. Rated R, I also must say that the censor board works great here (this inspired for my post on the Indian Censor board). Dont even let a kid watch it. There are some really violent scenes, which I never want my child to watch it or as a matter of fact any child be it any race or creed or religion.

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

Laptops vs Thinkpads September 30, 2007

Does anything come close to a Thinkpad. I write this on another brand, I bought a cheap one cause I wanted one asap. Maybe the fields are not level due to the configurations but I guess nothing compares to Thinkpads.

Just now the system shut down without a warning when the battery reached a critical level..But hey I told it to hibernate when critical levels reached and to warn me on low levels.

Have used from T30s to T60s. Nothing comes close. I just love my new T60. It is up in a jiffy from hibernate too. Absolutely zero delay in getting connected to my wireless too. That is something that I did not see on the T30 or 40 series. The hardkey to disable wireless, is cool. My friend bought a sleek model from another leader, what freaked me out was the size of the power adapter. It looked as if it was made at the time laptops were invented!

I need to buy another personal laptop. Maybe I am prejudiced because I have seen and used thinkpads for the past 5 years. I dont even have to think twice to locate a key. But yeah the best fit with $$$ also needs to be reasoned.

So much said about this but are we discussing on a level ground?

Domino/Notes vs Sharepoint…Nah…Thats like MS-Exchange/Outlook/SQL/ADS vs Domino.

Level the playing area with teamspaces and calendars think Quickr. (yeah, maybe thats why it sound more like QUICKER). Throw in Sametime 7.5.1 and it furthers the distance.

Read some of it here

Leapfroggin into here.

Its been a while that I have been toying with this idea. But frankly between serving my client, employer and tending to my family I never could find time.

Guess a man’s gotta make some time when he has to make it. I hope I will be able to serve justly in the blogging arena.
